Victoria Beckham….”OBSESSED is right!”

I was shocked and appalled when I read the latest article on how Victoria Beckham lost all of her baby weight just 8 weeks postpartum after her fourth child was born. Not that I was surprised really….I mean what did I expect? It IS Victoria; the other half of David and one half of the most publicly “displayed” couples right after Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge!

But that’s still no excuse. We really don’t need to hear, see or read how although Victoria had a slipped disc when baby Harper was only 2 weeks old, went against any better judgement at all, and pushed herself to hard and (in my opinion) WAY TO FAST. She referred to herself as being “obsessed” about losing the baby weight. Well that’s an understatement

Am I angry? No. Disgusted? Hell ya. This is what society see’s as “possible” after you deliver a baby because at the end of the day, we’re all people, right? So if she can pound the pavement 6 weeks after having a c-section, well then why can’t you?

Because!! Take a deep breath and think about it. A cesarean section is major abdominal surgery and should be treated as such and there is no way that any surgeon (with a brain) would suggest that a good form of low, impact exercise to gradually begin (which is recommended after c-sections by the way), would be a 5k!

As a mom of 2 scheduled c-sections, I know the discomfort that comes from having your muscles and nerve endings cut and how much they are connected with every other part of you. Just walking can be a chore the first couple of weeks. Now I’m not saying, you should act like an invalid, but if it takes 18 months to recover “entirely” from a pregnancy and delivery, how much more time is tacked on after a section?

And no one ever thinks about the pelvic floor! While Victoria is busy preparing for Fashion Week instead of spending time with her baby, she’s pounding that uterus closer to the outside of her body. But who knows….maybe as part of the Hollywood scene, surgery for prolapse and c-sections is a 2 for 1?

Whatever it is, keep it private. We all know that the infamous have more money than God and can create whatever vision they see fit, but it’s not cool when moms everywhere are struggling to keep their eyes open 8 weeks postpartum, never mind looking like they never gave birth.

Ok, I’ll stop now. Thanks for listening…
