Do You Suffer From Mummy Tummy??
Do you have a post baby pooch that just wont go away no matter how many crunches you do? Do people constantly ask you when you are “due” even though it has been months since you have delivered? Does your belly get even bigger after a meal or seem worse at the end of the day? We all know this feel oh too well and it’s frustrating, especially when we feel like we have done everything to get rid of it!
If any of this sounds familiar, you probably have what we affectionately call the “Mummy Tummy”. It’s that not so lovely protruding belly that sticks out right around your belly button or just below. This protrusion Is most often caused by a condition that affects the majority of pregnant women of all shapes and sizes. And although it is a lot more common than people think, it should not be ignored as it can lead to other health issues as well.
Mummy Tummy is Diastasis Recti
Mummy Tummy is most often the result of a condition called Diastasis Recti, or in layman’s terms, separation of the rectus abdominis. The rectus abdominis is the outer most abdominal muscle that gets strained from the growing uterus causing the muscles to separate. But this condition is not gender specific! Men can get this too.
How is it caused?
Diastasis Recti is caused from a forward forceful pressure on the recti mucles. The left and right side of the rectus abdomins is connected by a connective tissue called the linea alba. When pressure is caused, the linea alba is stretched sideways causing the muscles to separate. So if a pregnant woman can get it, couldn’t a man with a beer belly?
What is the effect?
The main function of the recti muscles are support for the back and the organs. If the structure and support system is compromised, it can lead to chronic back pain, limited support for the internal organs and risk for a developing a hernia.
Close the gap with Ab Rehab®!
Currently, the most common treatment of choice for Diastasis Recti is either no treatment at all or a tummy tuck. Neither of these options are comforting when our only choices are acceptance or a $10,000.00 medical bill. There is limited information available to help people find answers, flatten their tummies and get their confidence back.
Until now! The Ab Rehab® program with Core Expectations has been designed exclusively for the treatment of Diastasis Recti. Based on the only researched technique to treat this condition, we have developed a very specific training module that will not only close your separation, but alleviate your back pain, strengthen your core and give you your pre-baby belly back!
Exercises to avoid
